Core components of the main circuit
MCCB: Each generator set corresponds to one MCCB, which serves as the "main switch" for connecting the unit to the busbar or in parallel with other units. Its rated current needs to match the power of the generator set (such as 100A~1000A), and it has the characteristics of short circuit protection, overload protection, and strong breaking capacity (usually above 35kA). It can quickly break the circuit and isolate the faulty unit in case of faults in parallel or operation.
Busbar: A conductive busbar (copper or aluminum busbar) that aggregates the output currents of multiple units and connects them to the load. The cross-sectional area should be designed according to the total power to ensure low loss transmission.
Current Transformer (CT): Installed at the output of each unit, it is used to detect the magnitude of the current and provide data for the protection system and load distribution.
Synchronization and Control Module
Synchronous controller: The core control unit collects voltage, frequency, and phase signals from each unit to determine whether the parallel conditions are met (voltage difference ≤ 5%, frequency difference ≤ 0.5Hz, phase difference ≤ 5 °), and outputs adjustment signals to the engine governor and generator regulator to achieve automatic synchronization.
PLC or microprocessor: coordinates synchronous control, load distribution, circuit breaker action logic, supports manual/automatic mode switching.
Human Machine Interface (HMI): Touch screen or dashboard, displaying parameters such as voltage, current, frequency, power, etc. of each unit, supporting manual operation (such as closing, opening, and synchronous adjustment).
Protection system
Overload protection: Through the built-in release or external relay of the molded case circuit breaker, when a single unit or the total load is overloaded, the corresponding circuit is cut off.
Reverse power protection: When reverse power is detected in the unit (such as one unit towing another), the circuit breaker is triggered to open, preventing the engine from being damaged by "reverse dragging".
Short circuit protection: relying on the high breaking capacity of the molded case circuit breaker, it instantly disconnects in the event of a short circuit in the main circuit (such as a bus short circuit) to prevent the spread of faults.
Overvoltage/undervoltage protection: When the output voltage of the unit exceeds the normal range (such as ≥ 440V or ≤ 360V), the unit will be disconnected.
Auxiliary element
Contactor/relay: controls the opening and closing coils of the molded case circuit breaker to achieve remote or automatic operation.
Indicator lights and alarm devices: such as "closing indicator", "synchronization ready", "fault alarm" (sound and light alarm), providing visual feedback on the system status.
Wiring terminals and cabinet: The cabinet is made of cold-rolled steel plate, with a protection level of IP30~IP54 (depending on the environment), internal wiring specifications, including cable trays, grounding terminals, etc.
